How it works: Length conversion involves multiplying or dividing by a conversion factor. For example, to convert meters to feet, multiply by 3.28084. To convert feet to meters, divide by 3.28084.
Formula: value_in_target = value_in_source × (target_factor / source_factor)
Example: 5 meters × 3.28084 = 16.4042 feet.

Mass

How it works: Mass conversion uses conversion factors relative to kilograms. For example, to convert pounds to kilograms, multiply by 0.453592.
Formula: value_in_kg = value_in_source × source_factor, then value_in_target = value_in_kg / target_factor
Example: 10 pounds × 0.453592 = 4.53592 kg.
4.53592 kg / 0.001 = 4535.92 grams.

Temperature

How it works: Temperature conversions use specific formulas, not just multiplication.
Formulas:
Celsius to Fahrenheit: °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32
Fahrenheit to Celsius: °C = (°F - 32) × 5/9
Celsius to Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15
Example: 25°C × 9/5 + 32 = 77°F.

Volume

How it works: Volume conversions use factors relative to liters. For example, to convert gallons to liters, multiply by 3.78541.
Formula: value_in_liters = value_in_source × source_factor, then value_in_target = value_in_liters / target_factor
Example: 2 gallons × 3.78541 = 7.57082 liters.

Pressure

How it works: Pressure conversions use factors relative to Pascals (Pa). For example, to convert atmospheres to Pascals, multiply by 101325.
Formula: value_in_Pa = value_in_source × source_factor, then value_in_target = value_in_Pa / target_factor
Example: 1 atm × 101325 = 101325 Pa.
101325 Pa / 6894.76 = 14.6959 psi.

Energy

How it works: Energy conversions use factors relative to Joules (J). For example, to convert calories to joules, multiply by 4.184.
Formula: value_in_J = value_in_source × source_factor, then value_in_target = value_in_J / target_factor
Example: 100 calories × 4.184 = 418.4 J.
